1951
Seaside, Oregon
Born Trudy Carole Lund on December 17, 1951. The family lived here about six months before setting off for California.
“On December 17, 1951, I was blessed with a little sister named Trudy Carole Lund.”

1952 – 1955
Manteca & Tracy, California
Early years in the Central Valley, where her little sister Cathy was born in 1953.
“Parked the trailer behind Goldies Feed and Fuel (Mom’s cousin). Goldie said we could have all the ‘dirty’ eggs we wanted to eat.”

Vallejo, California
She grew up here: Sunset Trailer Court, then Broadway Street, then Palou Street.
“We moved to Palou Street in Vallejo, where Trudy decided she was not going to be called Trudy any longer, she is going to be called Carole.”

Phoenix, Arizona
Fourteen years in the desert, in several homes across the city.
“One year we rented a car to take the kids on a trip to an oasis type place to swim and get away from the heat… Never got to see the beautiful river Carole wanted to share.”

Vallejo, California
Back to Vallejo, near her parents and her sister Cathy.
“Carole’s parents lived next door to us, and her sister, Cathy, lived across the street from us, when we lived in Vallejo. Carole was always friendly and smiling.”

East Hollywood, Los Angeles
Her daycare in Hollywood: a home full of children, bunnies, guinea pigs and hamsters.
“Shauna, now 32, was the reason that Carole and I first met, at her day care, in Hollywood.”

Tujunga, Los Angeles
In the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, the daycare became a “home away from home” for many families.
“Most of all, I remember the fireworks from the front porch on the 4th of July’s… and the butterfly coffee cup that I drank coffee from when we sat and talked on that same porch.”

“I was so glad when about 10 years ago us sisters all moved close to each other here in Sacramento.”

“We 3 sisters would go out for breakfast/lunch or dinner once in awhile. Also went to thrift shops and garage sales together.”
