In loving memory
Carole Osgood
December 17, 1951 – February 11, 2015
Mother, sister, grandmother and friend to hundreds of children. She loved people, she loved music, and she loved butterflies.

Her footprint
Some people leave a footprint so deep it’s impossible to measure the impact they made on this world. Carole Crest Osgood is one of those people.

Her life
A home with the door always open.
Carole was born Trudy Carole Lund on December 17, 1951, in Seaside, Oregon, the middle of three Lund sisters. Somewhere around the third grade she announced she would no longer be called Trudy: she was going to be Carole. As her sister Audie put it, “if Carole decided to do something, she would find a way to do it.”
For years she ran a daycare in Los Angeles, first in Hollywood and then in Tujunga, and helped raise hundreds of other people’s children alongside her own: Cassie, Carrie and Cameron. Later came her grandchildren, and then her great-grandchildren. Her home was full of children, bunnies and guinea pigs, music, and friends who sometimes stayed for years.
In her later years she moved to the Sacramento area, close to her sisters Audie and Cathy, and found the man she called “My Joe.” After a battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully on February 11, 2015.
I will think of her every time I see a butterfly from now on.

Stories
In their own words
Her sisters, friends and the families from her daycare wrote about the Carole they knew. All 15 stories are kept here, just as they were shared.

Carol is like a “Good Fairy” in a Disney movie, ALL the children know her and LOVE her… most of us only influence a few “small people” she influenced generations.

This tall beautiful woman with long dark hair came out of the house and smiled this warm sincere smile… “Hi, I’m Carole.”

“Just put it towards your spiritual enhancement and that will be plenty of repayment to me.” I almost cried.

Carole, wherever you are, I hope it’s filled with music, laughter, and love.
